Complete Color Blending Guide

Color blending is the process of combining two colors to produce a new intermediate color. By adjusting the blend ratio, you control how much of each source color contributes to the final result, enabling precise color mixing for design and development.

Our blender uses linear interpolation in RGB color space. For a ratio of 0.5, each RGB channel of the result is the average of the two input channels. This mathematical approach produces consistent, predictable results that are ideal for digital design.

Unlike physical paint mixing (subtractive color model), digital color blending operates in the additive RGB model. This means blending complementary colors produces lighter midtones rather than the muddy browns you would get with paint.
