Trim Lines

Removes spaces and tabs from the beginning and end of each line. Interior content is untouched. Equivalent to applying String.trim() to every line. Essential for cleaning copy-pasted text and normalizing indentation.

Remove Blank Lines

Filters out lines that are empty or contain only whitespace. Eliminates excessive vertical spacing that accumulates from editing, merging files, or copy-pasting from formatted documents.

Collapse Spaces

Replaces runs of two or more consecutive space characters with a single space. Normalizes irregular spacing within text while preserving word boundaries and single spaces.

Combining all three options provides the most thorough cleanup. For selective operations, disable options you want to preserve. For example, keep blank lines as paragraph separators while still trimming and collapsing.

What does the Whitespace Remover do?

It cleans up text by removing extra whitespace. You can trim leading/trailing spaces from each line, remove blank lines, and collapse multiple consecutive spaces into single spaces. Each option can be toggled independently.

What does 'Trim lines' do?

Trim lines removes leading and trailing whitespace (spaces, tabs) from each line. Text in the middle of the line is not affected. This is equivalent to calling .trim() on each line individually.

What does 'Remove blank lines' do?

This option filters out lines that contain only whitespace or are completely empty. It's useful for removing unnecessary vertical spacing between paragraphs or data entries.

What does 'Collapse spaces' do?

Collapse spaces replaces sequences of two or more consecutive space characters with a single space. This normalizes inconsistent spacing within lines without removing intentional single spaces between words.

Can I use only one option at a time?

Yes, all three options are independent checkboxes. You can enable any combination: just trim, just remove blanks, just collapse, or any mix of the three. This gives you fine-grained control over the cleanup.

Does this remove tabs?
